Transition Assistance Program

The Transition Assistance Program is designed to provide retiring, separating, and demobilizing members and family members the information, skills and knowledge needed for a successful transition from the military. Transition assistance is also provided to DoD civilian employees and family members impacted by restructuring and reductions. TAP is mandatory for all separating and retiring service members For more information contact the A&FRC at 739-2747.

Requirements include:
Pre-separating Counseling
DD 2648/-1 briefing
Transition GPS 5-day Workshop
VA Benefits briefing
Capstone event.

Optional classes include:
Navigating USA Jobs
Resumes and Cover Letters
Interviewing and Salary Negotiation

Retirees can receive this mandatory briefing 2 years from their DOR and Separatees can receive 1 year from DOS. But all must receive training no later than 90 days prior to scheduled separation or retirement.
