The Navy’s Blue Angels demonstration team is coming back to headline the Tinker Air and Space Show in 2023.

The formal announcement of the return of the Blue Angels to Tinker was made at the International Council of Air Shows in Las Vegas on Dec. 7.

“The Blue Angels headlined our air show in 2019 and drew record crowds,” said Col. G. Hall Sebren Jr., 72nd Air Base Wing and Tinker installation commander. “With the unfortunate cancellation of this year’s air show, we expect 2023 to be bigger and better than ever.”

There will be several demonstration teams at the air show, and the Blue Angels will be the headliner team. Along with the flying acts there are always static aircraft for spectators to see and tour.

The Tinker Air Show allows the base to open its gates to the community and connect in a way that would not normally happen.

“Most people drive by Tinker and just see a large area with fences and buildings and air planes flying around, but they don’t really know what we are doing inside that fence line,” Sebren said. “Aside from the demonstrations and static aircraft displays, the air show weekend gives us an opportunity to let our communities see what we really do here and more importantly allows us to say thanks for the tremendous support we have always received.”

Along with flying acts and static displays, there will be demonstrations from various organizations in STEM City, a childeren’s area and lots of food and drink. There is something for everyone.

Mark your calendars for July 1 and 2, 2023, and be sure to watch for updates on the Tinker Facebook page at Facebook.com/tinkerairforcebase.
