The Arts and Crafts Center, in the Services Mall, Bldg. 478, is filled with great gift items from antiques to framed works of art. For those who like to do crafts, the shop offers classes in pottery, machine quilting, basket making, framing and a variety of services. It is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
   Arts and crafts classes and services are open to active duty military, family members, retirees, reservists and civil service employees.
   Members First Plus receives a 10-percent discount at the Arts and Crafts Center on classes, frame shop/gallery and laser engraving. Sale items are not discounted an additional 10 percent.
   Treat yourself to a cappuccino or cocoa while visiting the Services Mall. Purchase a 16-ounce cup for $1.25 at big blue counter. Then, sit down and relax at one of the tables or look around and shop.
   Gift Corner, in Bldg. 3001, is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. This shop features a full-service florist with fresh floral arrangements and delivery service throughout the metro area and on base delivery is free. Gift Corner also has unique gifts for the holiday season such as sports memorabilia, balloon bouquets, soaps, figurines, candles, country crafts and greeting cards.

   Quilting your quilt tops: Do you have old or new un-quilted quilt tops just sitting around the house? Now is the time to get them done. The Arts and Crafts Center now offers quilt top quilting as a new service. Quilting will include batting and the quilting. The customer must provide the top, binding and back. Prices are determined by the square yard of the quilt top. For more information, call 734-5615.
   Laser engraving is available. See the new line of engraving styles and techniques that can be created on the laser engraver. An assortment of plates and lettering styles are available for signs, plaques, labels, nametags and other items for home and office.
   The Darby Perrin Aviation Art Gallery is located in the Arts and Crafts Center and features signed and numbered aviation prints by Mr. Perrin. Uncle Sam's AWAX patches can be purchased at the gallery. Lay-away is available. For an appointment or more information, call 741-6190.
   The Thompson Portrait Gallery features works by artist Gaylon Thompson, who is available to do commissioned portraits in oils, pastels or pencil. For an appointment or more information, call 391-5641.
   The Frame Shop Gallery is tucked away in a corner of the Arts and Crafts Center. It is filled with gift-giving ideas such as small ready-made frames and home décor items.
The Frame Shop Gallery will take 40 percent off all prints and framed art in stock. Prints by well-known artists like Charles Russell, Van Gogh, Monet, Botticelli and more modern artists such as N.A. Noel, James Christensen, Lee Teter, Dru Blair, Carl Valente and many more are available.
   Enroll in Arts and Crafts Center classes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays in Bldg. 478. Registration cutoff for classes is three days before class start date. To enroll in a class, call 734-5615.
   Refunds or credit toward another class can be awarded when a patron must go on emergency leave, temporary duty (copy of orders presented) or sick leave (doctor's excuse presented).
   Full refunds are given when a class is cancelled by the center for insufficient participation or instructor absence. To receive a full refund for a class, the patron must cancel within three days of start date.
   After class start date, there are no refund except as mentioned. Patrons must present a receipt for a refund.
   Alouette Bead Design Center offers beading classes. Sign up for these classes by calling the Arts and Crafts Center at 734-5615. Reservations must be made one week before the class date. A minimum of two students per class are required.
Upcoming classes include:
   Salsa dance classes meet on Thursdays in Bldg. 475. The beginner class starts at 6 p.m. and intermediate students dance at 7 p.m.
Participants will learn the basic salsa steps, turns, partnering skills such as leading and following, simple turn patterns, style and technique tips and how to use the music. Cost is $10 per class for individuals or $18 per couple.
   Bring a new student to class and take advantage of the two for one deal -- $10 for both. This offer is only good on the new student's first visit.
   Basic pottery classes start at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Students in this four-week class will learn basic hand building techniques involving pinch pots, coil, molds and wheel-throwing techniques. Cost is $45, not including clay.
   A four-week machine quilting class starts Tuesday and runs through March 26. The class is offered from 9 a.m. to noon or 5 to 8 p.m. Students will construct a 40-by-60-inch quilt top. The instructor will quilt it and the student will attach the binding in the last class. Cost is $60 and all supplies are included.
   Basic beading class is 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday and March 20. Students in this one-day class learn how to use a bead board and the tools needed to make a bracelet, necklace or ID badge holder. Cost is $5. Supplies are not provided.
   A three-day picture framing class is set to begin at 6 p.m. Thursday. Class is held on Thursdays. Cost is $30. Supplies are not included.
   Cherokee double-walled basket making class takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 8. Cost is $65. All supplies are included.
   Pottery II classes start at 10:30 a.m. March 8. This is a six-week class for advanced students. Cost is $45, not including clay.
Basic wire beading class is set for 4 to 6 p.m. March 13 and March 27. Students will work with chain nose and round nose pliers to wrap either earrings or pendants using head pins or eye pins. Cost is $5. Supplies are not provided.
Splint Cherokee basket class takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 22. Students will make a single-walled basket and learn the techniques used to weave patterns into a basket. Cost is $65 and all supplies are included.
   Beginning drawing and oil painting and advanced drawing classes are also offered. Call 734-5615 for class dates and times.
