Teen members of the Tinker Youth Center's Patriot Keystone Club are trying to change the sterotypical opinion that today's youngsters don't care about anyone or anything but themselves. Members of the Patriot Keystone Club are working hard to support the community in many different ways throughout the year.
"The teens here want adults to see that they are encouraging healthy lifestyles," said Keystone Club president Chiara Foster. "We want the whole community to know that we really do care about people other than ourselves."
Recently, the club has implemented projects that enhance the lives of others and the teens learn valuable lessons that prepare them for the future. They organized and publicized monthly fitness challenges for youth in September, as well as assisted with National Kid's Day and held the Worldwide Day of Play, an event open to the Tinker community.
During October, they visited the OU Children's Hospital offering crafts and healthy fruit to patients and their families; worked at the Regional Food Bank helping pack boxes that were distributed to the needy; and helped with the Halloween dance and the Halloween Carnival.
So far this month, club members have performed a skit for children at the Child Development Center West about health and wellnesss. Other community projects are in the works at this time.
