Gen. Bruce Carlson will make a return visit to Tinker Air Force Base Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss the command's mission, its people and continuous process improvements among other topics.
The general will open discussions with community leaders during a working breakfast on Wednesday at the Tinker Club. Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Jari Askins and Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett are two of the expected attendees.
The implementation of Tinker's new Voluntary Protection Program for advancing worker safety and health on the job is also one of the many planned topics of discussion.
According to AFMC officials, the general wants to see how the base is taking care of the command's most valuable asset -- its people. The general plans to meet with some junior force employees and discuss personnel development programs for both young officers and civilian employees.
He also wants to see how the base is realizing his "One Materiel Command" philosophy of keeping AFMC's technology base strong and relevant.
In the area of continuous process improvement, he wants to see how Tinker is tracking Air Force Smart Operations for the 21st Century efforts and documenting savings.
He also will look at how the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center is transferring lessons learned to other centers, and how they are training the work force and standardizing processes with the OC-ALC and other centers within the command.
Gen. Carlson will be accompanied by his wife, Vicki, and Brig. Gen. Frank Bruno, AFMC Logistics director, among others.
