The Federal Women’s Program and the Federally Employed Women’s Tinker Chapter will celebrate Women’s Equality Day on Aug. 26. There will be a luncheon, hosted by 72nd Air Base Wing, 11 a.m. to noon at the Tinker Chapel Fellowship Hall in Bldg. 5701.

The featured speaker for the luncheon is Col. Jennifer L. Trinkle, 72nd Medical Group commander. Trinkle commands more than 500 medics to deliver outpatient health services to more than 17,000 enrolled patients and 63,000 regional TRICARE beneficiaries. She ensures medical readiness for Headquarters Air Force Sustainment Center, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex, 552nd Air Control Wing, Navy Strategic Communications Wing ONE, 507th Air Refueling Wing, 448th Supply Chain Management Wing and 45 other associate units including the Defense Logistics Agency, Defense Information Systems Agency, Defense Finance and Accounting Service and the 38th Cyberspace Engineering Installation Group.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating Women’s Right to Vote: Road to Ratification.” We invite you to join us in promoting equal opportunities for all and the many milestones achieved in the past 99 years. Lunch is $10 per person and due to limited seating, an RSVP is required. Visit https://einvitations.afit.edu/inv/anim.cfm?i=465754&k=0667470E7E53 to select your meal preference and confirm your seat. Payment is due to one of the following points of contacts: Rebecca Traynor at rebecca.traynor@us.af.mil, Amanda Isom at amanda.isom@us.af.mil, Senior Airman Kyle Baccay at kyle.p.baccay.mil@mail.mil or Chris Kern-Garcia at darlene.kern-garcia@us.af.mil no later than close of business on Aug. 21.

FWP and FEW will provide voter registration cards to recognize the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote. This was the culmination of a massive, peaceful civil rights movement by women that had its formal beginnings in 1848 at the world’s first women’s rights convention, in Seneca Falls, New York.

In 1971 the U.S. Congress designated Aug. 26 as “Women’s Equality Day.” The date was selected not only to commemorate the passage of the 19th Amendment, but also to call attention to women’s continuing efforts toward full equality. Workplaces, libraries, organizations and public facilities now participate through Women’s Equality Day programs, displays, video showings and other activities.

We encourage you to celebrate Tinker’s Women’s Equality Day. We look forward to seeing you at the luncheon. For additional information, contact Chris Kern-Garcia, Federal Women’s Program Manager,
