Miranda Vesy, a Southern Illinois University employee who works on lizard research at Tinker Air Force Base, holds a Texas horned lizard that has been fitted with a tracking device. Members of the 72nd Air Base Wing Civil Engineering Squadron’s Natural Resources team attach the transmitters to the lizards with temporary adhesive, then release the lizard back into the grasslands on Tinker. The lizards don’t stray far, but their camouflage and small size make locating them a learned feat for researchers. (Air Force photo by Marlin Zimmerman)
