Wrecked B-1B at Diego Garcia

Col Hall (B-1 System Program Manager), Luke Burke (B-1 Chief Engineer), and Al Maeder (B-1 Engineering Supervisor) traveled to Diego Garcia (actually on-site 10-12 Jan ’07) to review repair/restoration progress on B-1 aircraft 86-0132. They met with OC-ALC 76th MXW, B-1 SPM Engineering (555 ACSS/GFEA), Boeing, B-1 field (Dyess AFB TX), and 654 CLSS personnel who are actively engaged in the recovery effort. The team also hand carried and delivered tools and materials that were urgently needed by the on-site team. While there, the travelers observed as power was applied to the aircraft for the first time since the May 8, 2006 gear-up landing that caused extensive damage to the aircraft.
