We evaluate potential business opportunities utilizing these questions:
- Where are we now? - The strategic analysis of the business and its operating environment.
- Where do we want to go? - The process of defining strategic objectives.
- Where do we need additional work? - Identifying strategic needs and capacities
- What value will additional work add? - New technologies and the development of strategic relationships
- Will this be a partnering or inter-service arrangement? - Civilian aerospace companies or Military entities (i.e. Army, Navy, Marines).
We follow on with more tactical issues:
- Who will be my "Champion" for additional workload? - Our "hand-off" to workload Program Manager.
- What policies will be needed or developed? - Examine personnel staffing implications of the activities.
- What resources will be needed to get there? - Legal, funds, manpower and equipment.
Our "pipeline" refers to a flow of potential clients or partners that we have began developing. Single-Face assigns each potential opportunity in the pipeline a chance of success in a percentage format, utilizing a checklist. We support pipelines with an in-house system. Business development manages and analyzes the data to produce management information (MI). Such MI could include:
· reasons for wins/losses
· progress of opportunities in relation to the process
· performance in process channels
· service before production
