The Air Force strongly supports an appropriations bill, which would provide Congressional direction on the strategic choices expressed in the FY11 President's budget and would provide authority for new starts and production rate increases for investment programs, including military construction.
The absence of appropriations would be extremely disruptive to our military forces. The Air Force is attempting to minimize negative impacts and is working with the Department of Defense to address these issues.
At Tinker, as throughout the Air Force, those functions essential to national security and those that provide for the safety of human life and protection of property will continue. In most cases these functions would be accomplished by active duty Airmen.
Some civilians who are essential to accomplish these activities may be excepted from furlough. Under the existing guidance, the remaining civilian workforce could be furloughed.
