Midwest City Day
Staff Sgt. Patrick Strange, 72nd Security Forces Squadron, helps a youngster don a flack vest and helmet during a special Midwest City community pride celebration July 23. Midwest City and Tinker Air Force Base were featured by KOCO TV-5 as part of its summer “On the Road” show spotlighting select communities in the state. In addition to the Security Forces, the 3rd Combat Communications Group also provided a combat display for the event. Bill Randall stands in the burned remains of a neighbor’s front porch where last month he stood yelling and pounding on the door to alert the family to the growing fire. With pieces of burning roof dropping around him, the Tinker Air Force Base employee kicked in the door and ensured the family had escaped. Besides applause from coworkers when he arrived late to work that day, Oklahoma City Fire Department officials recently honored him for heroism.
