Tech. Sgt. Nadia Hamilton, an Airman Dorm Leader in the 72nd Air Base Wing Civil Engineering Directorate, has been in the Air Force for seven years.

She lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, before enlisting and her hobbies include playing with her 9-month-old son and experimenting with cooking recipes. “I come from a Caribbean background where my mother is Bahamian and my father is Jamaican,” she said.

Married for three years, Hamilton and her husband share the same birthday.

As an Airman Dorm Leader, Hamilton in-processes and out-processes Airmen from the dormitories.  “We are here to facilitate a smooth transition into military life and improve the quality of life for our Airmen,” she said. “This can range from placing work orders for maintenance issues to teaching the Airmen about conflict resolution when sharing a common living area and everything in between.”

Hamilton said the best part of her job is the team she works with. “This is one of the best group of individuals I have ever worked with,” she said. “Morale is high, communication is effective and the work environment fosters healthy relationships with each other and the Airmen we serve.”

The coronavirus has made it difficult for the dorm leaders to perform simple day-to-day administrative tasks and interact with the Airmen face to face. However, Hamilton said it has allowed them to be creative and innovative to find new ways to reach the Airmen.
