The Tinker Hawks Can Am hockey club entered action March 1 looking to get back into first place in Division II of the Oklahoma City Adult Hockey League. They have not been in the top spot since the first week of the winter season.

Though they were shorthanded -- only six skaters and one goaltender played -- the Hawks skated away with a 9-2 win over OSU 2 at the Blazers Ice Centre.

The Hawks scored three quick goals in the first period to literally put the game on ice. Center Jason Stefanski scored two of the first period goals and the other was tallied by right winger Jeremy Brennan, who lifted a shot from his knees into the net.

"I cannot believe I made that shot," said Brennan.

The final goal of the first period came as defenseman Lewis Lomanaco sent a quick wrist shot through a screen to make the score 4-0.

The second period was much more contested than the first with the Hawks scoring twice and OSU 2 getting one goal. The Hawks goals were scored by Stefanski and Brennan.

The Hawks scored three more goals in the third period. Stefanski got his fourth goal of the game, Lomanaco scored his second and Brennan got his third. This made the final 9-2.

"We are starting to round into form for the playoff stretch. Once we get all of our players on the ice at the same time, a championship may be on the horizon," said Chris Beatty, Hawks defenseman.

The stars of the game for the Hawks were Stefanski who scored four goals and added an assist, Brennan who scored three goals and Lomanaco with two goals.

The win improves the Hawks record to 10-4, while the loss drops OSU 2 1-12-1.
