AAFES offers complimentary messaging system Published June 5, 2007 By Brandice J. Armstrong Tinker Air Force Base Public Affairs Tinker Air Force Base -- The Army and Air Force Exchange Service is offering a complimentary messaging system for the military community. The system is designed to relay command-level auditory messages to the troops or military families. When utilized at Tinker, the messages can be heard at the Base Exchange and all other AAFES facilities on the installation. "This system benefits the command and opens lines of communication," said Flishia R. Bailey, AAFES general manager for the Tinker, Vance, Tulsa, Camp Gruber and McAlester Exchanges. Recorded messages can be used to highlight retirements, commanders' calls, changes of command or praise for a job well done, and will generally be aired every hour, for no more than two weeks. About 10 different messages can be heard in a given day. Ms. Bailey said the system is not new, as it's been around since the early 1990s, but is not being utilized to its fullest capability. To have a message recorded or to request an announcement, detailed information about the notice must be given seven days prior to the anticipated air date, Ms. Bailey said. For more information or to request an announcement, call Rosalina "Lina" Johnson, Ms. Bailey's assistant at 733-1994 or e-mail JohnsonRT@aafes.com.
