A big step forward to modernize the Egyptian Air Force F-16 “Fighting Falcon” fleet will take place July 25th in San Antonio, Texas. United States Air Force contracting, through Defense Logistics Agency-Aviation’s Strategic Acquisition Program, has awarded an Egyptian long-term F110 propulsion sustainment contract to GE Aviation. The ceremony will recognize the enterprise collaboration with a focus on Egyptian F-16 mission readiness.
Senior leaders from the United States Air Force, EAF, GE Aviation, StandardAero, DLA-Aviation and Foreign Military Sales will attend a ceremony at the StandardAero San Antonio facilities to celebrate the first General Electric F110-100 engine Service Life Extension Program induction under the Pacer Pharaoh Program. The ceremony will recognize the rapid collaborative effort led by the United States Air Force and its industry partners to stand-up overhaul capabilities for the EAF’s F110 propulsion fleet.
“Sustainment of high performance propulsion weapon systems require collaborative effort between the OEM, Government contracting, industry and warfighters,” said Chuck Darnell, chief Propulsion Sustainment Division, AFLCMC. “Agile contracts, such as EAF F110 SLEP sets the stage to fly, fight and win with our partner nations.”
Tinker Air Force Base’s 76th Propulsion Maintenance Group supported EAF F110 engine upgrades during the previous decade. After PMXG faced capacity issues, the USAF approached DLA-Aviation with an urgent EAF F110 fleet support requirement with a vision to develop long-term worldwide sustainment options.
In May, DLA-Aviation awarded a Pacer Pharaoh Program support contract to GE Aviation valued at more than $79 million to upgrade EAF engines to the F110-100C configuration. This Pacer Pharaoh Program support contract transfers the EAF’s F110 engine workload to GE Aviation, in collaboration with StandardAero. The Air Force Captains of Industry partnership, which uses Supplier Capability Contracts to streamline the procurement process, has expedited this contracting effort.
This EAF contract is the first joint F110 engine overhaul capability between GE and StandardAero. The contract assures continued support for our partner nation by providing SLEP and Engine Structural Integrity Program repair capabilities. The agreement will also provide uninterrupted support for the EAF while reducing turn-around time and creating new capabilities for the USAF, international partner nations and GE Aviation.
This USAF, DLA-Aviation, GE Aviation and StandardAero collaborative contracting effort opens the door for additional multi-nation ENSIP repair contracting with a goal to provide everybody propulsion sustainment options.
