Air Force Research Laboratory initiatives strengthen warfighting connections
U.S. Air Force Capt. Seth Bacon, Air Force Research Laboratory research physicist, and Sage Edwards, AFRL research engineer, explore the cockpit of a U-2 at the 5th Reconnaissance Squadron (RS), Osan AFB, Republic of Korea, Jan. 19, 2026. AFRL visited the 5th RS to better understand mission execution and the unique physical stressors pilots face. As part of an initiative to partner more closely with warfighters, members of the AFRL workforce immersed themselves in the Pacific theater's integrated planning, execution and intelligence cycles to better align laboratory research and development with operational realities.
