TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The Spring Flag Football League recently kicked off and will continue through mid-May with games every Tuesday at the field north of the dorms.
Defense was the key March 7 as all four games ended in shutouts.
Perennial powerhouses Reserve White and Reserve Gold blanked each of their opponents with lopsided wins. White prevailed 31-0 against the 552nd MOF; Gold blitzed 552nd MXS 47-0. Gold’s Brian VanCuren snagged three TD receptions and converted an interception for another six points.
72nd Security Forces Squadron and 72nd CPTS banged heads in a defensive stalemate during regular time, but SFS’ Letrelle Hunter caught the game-winning pass in double overtime.
552nd AMXS rounded out the evening with a 13-0 shutout of 424th SCMS.
Nine teams (72nd Med Group had a bye last week) will vie for the championship, with the final scheduled for May 23.
