On March 6, the 72nd Medical Group achieved and celebrated surpassing 365 days without a Serious Safety Event, which is defined as a patient safety event that resulted in moderate to severe harm or death. As the Medical Group continued forward in their Trusted Care journey and pursuit of Zero Harm, a new goal of 500 days without a Serious Safety Event was set.
On July 19, the Medical Group reached that milestone — 500 days without a Serious Safety Event. To kick off a celebration marking the occasion, the 72nd Medical Group Commander, Col. Jennifer L. Trinkle, officiated a ceremony during which banners commemorating these remarkable achievements were unfurled by Airman 1st Class Reanne Labriel, 72nd Medical Group Outpatient Records technician, Chief Master Sgt. Melissa K. Erb, 72nd Air Base Wing Command Chief, 2nd Lt. Madison Rauenbuehler, 72nd Medical Group Medical Readiness flight commander and Bob Sandlin, 72nd Air Base Wing director of staff.
Following the unfurling of the banners, the Medical Group hosted an ice cream social for Medical Group personnel and patients. Manning the ice cream scoops and providing ice cream toppings were 72nd Medical Group personnel Senior Master Sgt. Otilio Blanco, Dental Clinic; Master Sgt. Teodros Rembert, First Sergeant; Senior Master Sgt. Clarissa Merced, Aerospace Medicine Squadron Superintendent; Senior Master Sgt. Mary Lake, Dental Squadron Superintendent; Senior Airman Maiesha Buford, Public Health; and Staff Sgt. James Bowman, Executive Officer.
Medical Group Commander Col. Trinkle attributed the MDG’s achievements to the staff’s hard work, dedication to Zero Harm, teamwork and implementation of the Trusted Care Safety Behavior and Error Prevention tools.
