Capt. Gavin Unverfehrt, Airfield Operations flight commander with 72nd Operations Support Squadron, was recently honored with a Wildcatter award from 72nd Air Base Wing Commander Col. Paul Filcek.
Unverfehrt is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of Air Traffic Control, Airfield Management and Navigational Aid Maintenance.
Due to manning shortfalls, Unverfehrt bridged the squadron director of operations position gap and led Weather Forecasting, Aviation Resource Management and Transient Alert operations. Unverfehrt also stepped up as the deputy director of the 2019 Star Spangled Salute Air & Space Show and guided a multi-organization planning and execution team resulting in the most successful open house in Tinker Air Force Base history.
