Tinker lodging to close, last weekend for reservations Published Dec. 21, 2022 By Mary Begy 72nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – The Indian Hills Inn here will close permanently December 31, 2022, in accordance with the Department of the Air Force divestiture of lodging operations at nine installations to meet a Defense Department requirement that all lodging is self-sustaining without taxpayer funding. The DAF analyzed the Lodging Program at all continental United States installations to ensure the best use of inventory and have it properly sized based on installation mission requirements. "Over the past two decades, declining appropriated fund support drove resourcing decisions deferring higher-cost facility sustainment and maintenance items for buildings throughout the lodging portfolio," said Victoria Fragomeli, Air Force Services Business Operations director. The review evaluated each installation's lodging, current inventory conditions, historical occupancy rates, and projected future needs. Assessments included: actual usage data by active-duty military temporary duty and permanent change of station members and families; age and condition of facilities; costs to maintain and replace facilities; and the availability of off-base hotels. The Indian Hills Inn will be accepting reservations through December 25, 2022, with all checkout dates needing to be before December 31, 2022.
