Center sponsoring ‘marketing’ lecture Published May 16, 2013 Airman and Family Readiness Center TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The Tinker Airman and Family Readiness Center is sponsoring the "Marketing Yourself for a Second Career" lecture from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. June 10 at the base theater. Retired Col. Terri Coles, deputy director of Transition Services for the Military Officers Association of America and an expert on transitioning from military to civilian employment, will be conducting the seminar. In her free two-and-a-half hour presentation, Ms. Coles will introduce the audience to the realities of competition in the civilian job market; the perceptions civilian employers have of military personnel; a plan for the job search; tips for strengthening the resumé; networking plans; preparing for and conducting a successful interview, and salary negotiations and benefit packages. The lecture is presented annually at more than 150 U.S. military bases worldwide. It is up-to-date, hard-hitting and sharply focused. It has a reputation as a "must attend" for those five years or less from separation or retirement. The presentation is geared toward officers and senior enlisted, but those of all ranks are warmly welcomed. Spouses are encouraged to attend as well. All who attend will receive a free copy of the lecture's companion book, also titled "Marketing Yourself for a Second Career". It is an in-depth, all-in-one resource for the transition process. If you are interested in attending, call the A&FRC at 739-2747 and tell them you would like to register for the June 10, "Marketing Yourself for a Second Career" seminar.
