Pausing to remember
n April 19, members of the 3rd Combat Communications Group held their annual memorial retreat in honor of a fallen Airman. Airman 1st Class Cartney J. McRaven, a combat communicator assigned to the 32nd Combat Communications Squadron, was killed in the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah federal building in downtown Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995. Airman McRaven had just returned from a four month deployment and married Senior Airman Anthony McRaven four days before the bombing. On the morning of the bombing, Airman McRaven was in the Social Security office in the federal building reporting her name change. Every year this event gives tribute to Airman McRaven’s character, life and spirit and in turn reinforces the warrior ethos in the outstanding, resilient wingmen.
