Start the new year off with a better body, better life Published Dec. 21, 2012 By Wendi Knowles Health and Wellness Dietitian TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The holidays are here and with most holiday celebrations including food, it is tough to keep our weight in check. The extra pounds that go with these celebrations can cause additional stress. No need to worry this year, the Health and Wellness Center is looking out for you and will be offering a new program for the new year titled "Better Body. Better Life." This program is a hands-on interactive experience designed to help you meet the new year armed with tools to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This new Air Force Health Promotion healthy weight program is specifically designed to help men and women achieve and maintain a healthy weight and abdominal circumference, and increase the rate and impact of physical activity. The HAWC staff is working to strike a balance between offering an effective program that includes increase awareness and knowledge with workout time to minimizing your duty day interruption. The program is divided into five two-hour modules that you do not have to be attended in any specific order. This allows you to enroll at anytime. This program includes topics that focus on nutrition, behavior modification and physical activity for each of the five two-hour modules. Modules will be taught by a registered dietitian and exercise physiologist. PT uniform or workout clothing is recommended for the interactive fitness session of each module.
