Ray Staff Writer TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Intramural softball at Tinker AFB is well under way despite the scorching heat. More than 40 runs have been recorded in at least two offensive slugfests so far. A total of 44 runs were scored on June 20, when the 966th AACS outlasted the SCW-1 Stingers, 25-19. Similarly, 41 runs were tallied June 19 when the 34th CBCS defeated the 3rd Herd, 23-18. At the other extreme, the Swingers and the 960th Vikings played to a 6-6 tie June 25, and the 552 MOS edged the Okies, 7-5, on June 21. Three identical scores were recorded Monday, Tinker Sports Director Pat Griffin reported: the Swingers defeated the 552nd MXS, the 72nd SFS beat the 964th AACS, and the 72nd MDG bested the 964th AACS, all by scores of 7-0. Also Monday, the 72nd MDG overran the 960th Vikings, 15-1. A second offensive outburst occurred June 20, when the 965th AACS slipped by Junior's Jokers, 19-17. In other games June 21, the 31st CBCS bested the 552nd AMXS, 13-3; the Okies defeated Northrop Grumman, 14-3; the Thumpers thumped Northrop Grumman, 12-2, and romped over the 31st CBCS, 20-4; and the 552nd MOS whipped the 552nd AMXS, 14-5. In other June 20 games: the 551st CMMXS clobbered the SCW-1 Stingers, 23-3, and SCW-1 retaliated by walloping other Sailors from TACAMO, 22-6. Also June 20, the VQ-7 Wolfpack defeated TACAMO, 14-4, and whipped the 955st AACS, 14-5. In other games June 19, Griffin related: the 72nd OSS defeated the 752nd OSS, 13-5; the 559th Cow Tippers lost to DISA, 16-6, and to 72 OSS, 15-10; the 34th CBCS beat DISA, 25-12; and the 3rd Herd stampeded over the 373rd TRS, 25-4.
