‘Off We Go’ energy contest under way Published June 8, 2012 By Brandice J. O'Brien Tinker Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- It's on. Col. Steven Bleymaier recently challenged various Tinker organizations to an energy reduction competition. Appropriately named "Off We Go Energy Reduction Competition," the 72nd Air Base Wing and Tinker installation commander has dared his colleagues to see which unit's on-base headquarters facilities can save the most energy during June, July and August. The contest began June 1. "The goal is to see which building can decrease their electrical consumption by the greatest percentage from the same three-month period in fiscal 2011," the colonel wrote in a recent email. "72nd Air Base Wing Civil Engineer Directorate will read the meters each week and provide updates every Monday beginning June 11 and continuing through Aug. 27. There is a trophy at stake, so bring on the competition. I assure you the 72nd ABW is in this to win." Winners will be announced after the Labor Day holiday on Sept. 3, and presented a trophy at the September Energy Steering Group meeting.
