Col. Richard Schwing relinquished command of Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Oklahoma to Col. Rex Adee in a ceremony May 14 at the Tinker Club.

DLA Aviation Commander Brig. Gen. Scott Jansson served as the presiding officer over the ceremony.

"Colonel Schwing's contributions to the Defense Logistics Agency and the United States Air Force have been numerous and significant," General Jansson said. "His leadership through a significant time of reorganization and dedication to improve support to the Air Force industrial customer charted a course for success and set the standard for the rest of the agency."

"Colonel Schwing led his KC-135 supply chain experts to break through barriers and increase parts supportability," the general said, "Due to his efforts, DLA support to the KC-135 significantly increased over his two-year tenure, and led to a dramatic increase in overall productivity."

As the commander, Colonel Adee will be ultimately responsible for more than 360 employees who provide supply, storage and distribution support to DLA's Air Force industrial customers at Oklahoma City.

"Colonel Rex Adee has done all the right things throughout his career to prepare himself for this tremendous responsibility and opportunity," General Jansson said. "He is exceptionally well educated; he's earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and master's degree in Logistics Management."

The general also said that Colonel Adee was not new to DLA and while serving at DLA headquarters was chief of the Fusion Center Integration Team, Air Force National Account Manager and deputy executive director for Operations and Sustainment there.
"Rex, I am very confident that you will take DLA at Oklahoma City to even newer heights," Colonel Jansson said.

"It is great to be in Oklahoma again," Colonel Adee said. He then went on to thank General Jansson for allowing him to be a part of DLA Aviation. "What a great bunch of people we have here at DLA Oklahoma City -- I look forward to meeting each and every one of you and working with you."

Colonel Adee began his career in 1987 with his first assignment as Combat Readiness and Resources chief, and 347th Transportation Squadron Vehicle Maintenance chief at Moody AFB, Ga.

He has served tours at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea; US Air Force Space Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.; Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.; Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal; Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo.; Scott Air Force Base, Ill.; and Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany.

Colonel Adee's major awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one silver oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Air Force Achievement Medal.
