Base plans events to celebrate Earth Day, Month Published April 5, 2012 Tinker Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- April is Earth Month and April 22 is recognized as Earth Day. To celebrate, members of the 72nd Air Base Wing Civil Engineer Directorate have planned a series events to educate and inform base personnel about issues concerning energy conservation and environmental awareness. Base Environmental Awareness Events Displays will be set-up at the Tinker Exchange from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 12 and at Hollywood and Vine in Bldg. 3001 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 18 to promote the reduction of energy use and environmental stewardship. Informational handouts will be provided to educate base personnel on Tinker's environmental programs. The focus will be on stewardship of the earth's natural resources -- Make every day Earth Day! Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event Base Housing and Balfour Beatty Communities are working together to hold a Base Household Hazardous Waste Collection at the BBC Community Center parking lot from 10 a.m. to noon April 21. There will be a cookout prepared by BBC for participants. This event is only open to residents of base housing. Base Creek Cleanup Day From 1 to 4 p.m. April 26, volunteers will remove trash and debris from Tinker's creek system, improving aesthetics and water quality.
