It was quite the reunion.

Tuesday represented a "Welcome Home" for dozens of retired generals, members of the Senior Executive Service, colonels and GS-15s as the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center hosted Blue Summit 2012. The annual event provides an opportunity to present retired senior leaders with updates on the progress of Tinker and the ALC, but it also allows the base to benefit from the centuries of combined experience these leaders have acquired.

"It's wonderful to have the chance to showcase the great work of our team at Tinker," said Maj. Gen. Bruce Litchfield, the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center commander. "We're positioned to succeed today because of the legacy you have left, and you all deserve a big round of applause."

General Litchfield emphasized to the assembled leaders his three main priorities: execute today's mission, stand up the new Air Force Sustainment Center, and take care of our people. "In a difficult fiscal environment, we have to prioritize our resources to focus on the most important things. These are the core capabilities the Air Force is counting on us to provide, and we're focusing all of our efforts to make sure we succeed," he said.

Besides receiving updates from ALC senior leadership, the retired leaders toured manufacturing areas in Bldg. 9001 (the former General Motors plant) and Bldg. 3001, learning more about the current status of everything from local manufacturing capabilities to the F117 engine line. With the latest information in hand, they provided advice and suggestions to facilitate a successful transition over the remainder of the fiscal year.

After completing their mission, guests departed the Club with Tinker's gratitude and a better perspective on the future of the base.
