Force Support Squadron hiring military spouses Published Feb. 23, 2012 By Kimberly Woodruff 72nd Force Support Squadron Marketing TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The Force Support Squadron has non-appropriated funds jobs available that would be a perfect match for military spouses. Tinker Golf Course and Bowling Center in particular are looking to hire cook positions very soon. As wingmen to the troops, military spouses have a vested interest in the base and working on base lends itself to a feeling of pride and a sense of community like nowhere else. While perfect for military spouses and dependents, NAF jobs are open to anyone who wishes to apply. Military spouses may be eligible to apply for employment preference for Department of Defense NAF positions in conjunction with their military sponsor's transfer to a new duty station. Spouse preference eligibility begins 30 days before the military sponsor's reporting date to the new duty location. A military spouse preference eligible is a military spouse who entered into marriage with the military member prior to relocating because of service under a statutory tour. Military spouses may apply for any position in all employment categories in pay band non-appropriated funds grade III and below, childcare positions, and equivalent hourly paid crafts and trades positions. However, preference applies only when the grade/pay band for which the spouse has applied is no higher than that previously held in the federal service. To be eligible for Military Spouse Preference, the applicant's sponsor has to be on active duty being transferred to a new duty station. The applicant has to be married prior to the transfer, and the transfer window is within 30 days. The position would need to be in any of the following pay bands: non- appropriated funds grade 1 to NAF grade III, all childcare positions, and hourly crafts and trades positions for which he or she is qualified. Fun, friendly, energetic people with a willingness to serve and provide stellar customer service are applicants most sought after to be a part of the Force Support team. Customer service training will be provided to all new employees. It should be noted that NAF jobs are not considered "federal employment" but applicants would have access to the base and certainly all Force Support activities. Positions are always open, so applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Childcare positions require additional information and the applicant is responsible for providing that information. Applications are taken online through www.nafjobs.org. New users will create a profile before applying for positions. For additional information or help with the application process, call the NAF Human Resources office at 739-5372.
