72nd MDG Airman will tour with Tops Published Feb. 16, 2012 By Becky Pillifant Marketing and Advertising Specialist TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- A little song goes a long way for Senior Airman Jessica Cunningham, 72nd Medical Group. In March, she will begin a year-long tour with other new members of the 2012 Tops in Blue team. They will have two months of staging in San Antonio, then hit the road running as they begin touring the world. During last year's Tops in Blue's 2011 Rhythm Nation Tour, Airman Cunningham had the privilege of auditioning for the TIB when they came to Tinker and performed at the Rose State Communications Center in Midwest City. Airman Cunningham wowed the team with her rendition of "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Huston. "I know this is a chance of a lifetime and I'm anxious to begin the tour," Airman Cunningham said. "This experience could open new doors for me in the music and entertainment profession." Airman Cunningham has been stationed at Tinker for two of her three years in the Air Force. During her time on base, she has had the opportunity to sing at change of commands, University of Oklahoma basketball games, retirement ceremonies and at her own promotion ceremony. Airman Cunningham began singing at the age of 4 years old and continued through college. She sang in school choirs and in the seventh grade competed in formal competition singing classical songs. In college she was a member of a gospel group that sang at a variety of events throughout the city of Columbus, Ohio. Some of her favorite songs are gospel and Rhythm and Blues. Airman Cunningham said one of her favorite sayings is "Good, better, best -- never let it rest, until your good becomes better and your better becomes your best." Airman Cunningham said her parents and fellow co-workers inspires her the most. Also, former Tops in Blue entertainer Jamel Mejia, has taken Airman Cunningham under his wing and told her what to expect while on tour with Tops in Blue.
