A&FRC offering reintegration class for spouses Jan. 25 Published Jan. 19, 2012 By Joyce Atlee Family Advocacy Outreach Manager TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- A unique class for spouses of deployers will be offered at Tinker for the first time at 9 a.m. Jan. 25 at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. The Spouses Reintegration Class is aimed at those whose active duty spouse has been back from deployment a month or less, or will return within the next month. The A&FRC, the Mental Health Resiliency Element and the Military Family Life consultant will provide an overview of challenges the deployed member may have faced and offer helpful information on how family life can be affected by the return of a loved one from deployment. While spouses of deployers are always welcome at the existing Reintegration briefings held for active duty members at the A&FRC, the Integrated Delivery System identified a need for more specific information and assistance tailored to loved ones welcoming home their deployer. "Families can face unique and unexpected stressors when a deployed family member returns, sometimes making it difficult to settle back into their normal routine," said Lt. Col. Kevin Wright, IDS co-chair. "It can be helpful to realize how normal this is, be prepared for it and look at ways to overcome these obstacles during the reunion and reintegration process." To sign up for the class or for more information, call the A&FRC at 739-2747.
