He may be new to Tinker and Oklahoma, but Col. Steven Bleymaier already calls the installation home. Since arriving here last month, the colonel said he's eager to get involved and help keep the ball rolling.

Colonel Bleymaier is the latest addition to the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center front office team. He is the new OC-ALC vice commander and director of Propulsion for the Air Force. He succeeded Col. Evan Miller.

"Since I've been here, I've learned the ALCs provide readiness and we're always trying to improve that level of readiness through continuous process improvement," Colonel Bleymaier said. "There's a connection to the field, because the field provides combat ready Airmen and aircraft and it's all connected. It's really exciting to be on this side of the equation and my goal is to learn as much as I can and effectively help the team advance the ball down the field of readiness."

The colonel came to Tinker from Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., where he led the 20th Maintenance Group. In his 20-year career, Colonel Bleymaier has worked in fighter aircraft, heavy and munitions maintenance. He also has experience in acquisition logistics, legislative liaison and politico-military plans. In addition to commanding the 20th Maintenance Group, he's led two squadrons, served at major command and Air Staff levels.

Prior to coming to Tinker, the colonel served one Air Force Materiel Command assignment. From 1995 to 1997, Colonel Bleymaier was the chief of the Site Activation and Field Support Branch for the Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile Joint System Program Office at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.

"I have two years system program office experience," Colonel Bleymaier said, "and I've also got command experience in the field; I really have been blessed throughout my career to have a wide variety of opportunities in all sorts of areas."

Colonel Bleymaier said to achieve his goal of learning as much as he can and helping the center prosper, he will get involved, get to know the people and the OC-ALC's partners, and "do the old PDCA - Plan, Do, Check, Adjust -even on the individual level."
"The number of moving parts here is massive, but they're all so critical and they all work together. Whether you're in the OC-ALC Aerospace Sustainment Directorate, 76th Maintenance Wing, 72nd Air Base Wing, Air Force Global Logistics Support Center or Defense Logistics Agency, it's all one big team effort," Colonel Bleymaier said.

"It's critical to achieve the readiness that we're all striving for. Part of my job, in addition to helping advance the ball toward the center's goals, is to help all the parts of that team succeed."
