Maj. Gen. Litchfield to be next logistics center commander

Air Force officials announced June 16 the selection of Maj. Gen. Bruce Litchfield as the next commander of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center. General Litchfield will succeed Maj. Gen. David Gillett, who will retire after more than 34 years of military service.

A change of command date has not been announced.

General Litchfield is presently the special assistant to the commander, Air Force Materiel Command, located here. As the special assistant to the commander, he is responsible for overseeing transformation initiatives throughout AFMC. The command conducts research, development, test and evaluation, and provides acquisition management services and logistics support necessary to keep Air Force weapon systems ready for war.

General Litchfield entered the Air Force in 1981 as a distinguished graduate from the ROTC program at Norwich University, Vermont. His career spans diverse logistics and acquisition assignments supporting weapon systems at wing, major command, Air Staff and Joint Staff levels. He has commanded a supply squadron, logistics group and combat support systems wing and was the director of Logistics, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, Hickam AFB, Hawaii. Prior to his current assignment he was the 76th Maintenance Wing commander.
