Tinker Gate, new Pass and ID to re-open Monday Published March 3, 2011 Tinker Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The Tinker Gate and the new Pass and ID building are set to open Monday after many months of construction. The new gate features a serpentine lane design with concrete barriers that dissuade high-speed approaches by potential threats using vehicles as weapons. If these barriers do not stop the threat, the state-of-the-art pop-up barrier system can be activated by Security Forces to "capture" a threatening vehicle. With six lanes -- four inbound and two outbound -- the reconstructed Tinker Gate will handle the largest workload of all the gates on base. New gate hours will go into effect Monday. They are: · Gate 1 - Tinker Gate: 24 hour operations · Gate 2 - Eaker Gate: 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays · Gate 3 -Turnbull Gate: Closed Pass and ID office hours: 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays Issue of contractor badges: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays
