TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. --
Tinker Airmen who are preparing to deploy in the next six months or who have returned from deployment in the past six months will benefit from a seminar planned for them and their spouses.
The second pre-deployment retreat sponsored by the chapel and the other Integrated Delivery System agencies on base is March 25-27 at the National Center for Employee Development in Norman. The retreat is not a marriage retreat, but for families.
Chaplain (Capt.) Mark Juchter said comments from the first retreat, held last August, were "entirely positive" and the sponsors hope to make this program as meaningful.
The retreat will begin Friday afternoon and continue through Sunday lunch. A suggested donation of $50 per family is recommended and the money will be used by the chapel for programs designed for deployed families.
Registration begins March 1 through the chapel. First priority is for those families with a member deploying in the next six months. Second preference is for those who have returned in the past six months. The limit is 60 families.
The focus of the retreat, according to Chaplain Juchter, is to focus on relationships, finances and communication.
"The idea is to build resiliency so families can handle deployment separation," he said.
Child care and programs for children of all ages is provided for children three months or older by the Child Development Center and the Youth Center.
Activities include team building for teens, lots of free time to build memories with your family, a garage dance party and a spouse breakfast with base senior spouses to get all your questions answered.
"The program is very active and a lot of fun," Chaplain Juchter said.
