The 552nd Maintenance Squadron begins the New Year with a new leader. Maj. Kelley Stevens took command of the 552nd MXS in a change of command ceremony on Jan. 7. Maj. Jonathan Schuppel relinquished command of the 552nd MXS Bulldogs and resumed his position as deputy director of the 564th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. Presiding officer, Col. Stella Smith, commended the outgoing commander. "Major Schuppel jumped into the role of commander and helped improve many situations," said Colonel Smith. During his final address to the squadron, Major Schuppel encouraged the squadron to live by the principles he set for himself. "Live life for something greater than yourself," said Major Schuppel. Major Stevens is not new to the position of commander. She previously served as commander of the 52nd Equipment Maintenance Squadron at Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany. Colonel Smith spoke highly of her new squadron commander. "Major Stevens has great credentials, visionary leadership, and experience and is a proven maintainer," said Colonel Smith. Major Stevens thanked Colonel Smith for the opportunity to lead the Bulldogs and "setting the example of excellence." In her remarks to the squadron Major Stevens vowed to continue to overcome the "usual challenges of a Maintenance Squadron" and for the Bulldogs to be "bad to the bone."
