Fiscal year end fun
Beating the stress of a looming fiscal year end all-nighter and boosting morale was a competition between the five branches of Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Oklahoma City, located in Bldg. 3001. Costumed employees and judges, director Frances Evans and deputy director Rick Vincent, far right, enjoyed James Chandler’s hula dance at the luau area during judging. Branches decorated, dressed up and provided theme-based food to win bragging rights. Besides a luau theme, branches turned their areas into a New Year’s Eve party, a Mardi Gras parade, a fiesta celebration and leather-wearing bikers hangout. Ms. Evans and Mr. Vincent were impressed with the creativity, effort and enthusiasm in the stress-breaker. “They work hard all year,” said Mr. Vincent. “The lengths these guys go to in support of the war fighter is phenomenal, and they come through every year. They will obligate $800 million in depot-level spare parts for fiscal year 2010.” New Year’s Eve was the overall winner, but Ms. Evans declared all the branches winners. Soon, the food was eaten, costumes were off and it was back to business and a late night for the 63 member organization. (Air Force photo by Margo Wright)
