The purpose of the Air Force Aid Society's Car Care program is to ease the impact of deployment on Air Force families by offering basic maintenance (oil/filter change) for a member's vehicle while the member is deployed or on a remote tour.

When performing this routine maintenance, additional repairs or services may be identified by the mechanic as urgent safety issues. In these cases, families are encouraged to return to the Airman and Family Readiness Center to discuss an interest free loan from the AFAS. The goals are to identify and repair problems before they become service and more costly to repair and to introduce the recipient of the voucher to the A&FRC and its programs.
Eligibility:

· Spouses of active duty Air Force members (including Air Guard and Air Force Reserve members activated under Title 10 USC) deployed for more than 30 days. The member must be deployed away from their duty station for 30 days or more. This includes TDY assignments to schools (not including those less than four hours away from duty station). The service limited to once per deployment (maximum of two times per calendar year) and should be performed on the primary family vehicle only.

· Spouses of active duty Air Force members (including Air Guard and Air Force Reserve members activated under Title 10 USC) assigned to a remote tour. The member must be assigned to a one year remote tour with the family remaining at a stateside Air Force base. Spouses must be actively participating in a base level Hearts Apart program. The service is limited to two times per calendar year for the duration of the tour, and should be performed on the primary family vehicle only.

 · First Term Airmen assigned to their first duty station may receive a Car Care voucher if they meet privately with a financial counselor (not a class room setting) and complete a budget. This service is offered as a personal financial readiness incentive tool to get young Airmen on the right track financially and learn about A&FRC programs available to them.

Those eligible for a Car Care voucher can bring a copy of the service member's orders to the A&FRC, 6001 Arnold Street, or call 739-2747.
