TACAMO change of command today Published Aug. 27, 2010 Strategic Communications Wing ONE Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Capt. Dwight D. Shepherd, Strategic Communications Wing ONE and Task Force 124 commander, will officially pass the helm of the 'Take Charge and Move Out' community to Capt. Timothy C. Pedersen, SCW-1 deputy commander, in a change of command ceremony today at Tinker Air Force Base. Captain Pedersen will serve as the 12th wing commander since the TACAMO community was established at Tinker in 1992. He has served as the deputy wing commander since Feburary 2009. More than 1,200 Sailors on Tinker Air Force Base accomplish the TACAMO mission of proving a survivable communications link between national decision-makers and the country's arsenal of strategic nuclear forces. The E-6B Mercury aircraft enable the president of the United States and the secretary of Defense to directly contact submarines, bombers and missile silos protecting national security through nuclear deterrence.
