72nd Air Base Wing names Wildcatter Award winners Published Aug. 27, 2010 72nd Air Base Wing TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Ilesh Patel, Quality Assurance, 72nd Air Base Wing Civil Engineer Directorate Mr. Patel's accomplishments include reviewing and inspecting 97 design and 130 construction management delivery orders valued at more than $3.6 million that supported $88 million in design and $68 million in construction efforts on Tinker AFB. Each month Mr. Patel assesses over 150 contractual areas for risk and contractor's execution health. He was a key figure in sustaining and maintaining support for Tinker in numerous areas and contracts, as well as indentifying opportunities for improvement between government and contractor. Mr. Patel has several additional duties to include; alternate Vehicle Control Officer, 6-S monitor, unit automated external defibrillator equipment operator. He volunteers his time to many organizations to include the OK Food Bank and American Red Cross Blood Drive for Haiti Quake relief. Mr. Patel's innumerable accomplishments are invaluable to the success of Team Tinker. Sherrie Atkinson, Budget Analyst/Resource Advisor, 72nd Operations Support Squadron Ms. Atkinson manages her squadron's annual budget of an estimated $1.4 million. Her efforts ensure 100 percent accuracy in accounting for expenditure and bills. Mrs. Atkinson ensured that fiscal 2010's initial distribution budget cuts of nearly $10,000 were effectively placed on low-priority projects. Her planning allowed for zero impact to the mission accomplishment despite these cuts. She has numerous accomplishments including: serving as the squadron's Defense Travel System expert, guaranteeing efficient utilization of squadron resources and organizing a farewell luncheon for a fellow squadron member. Mrs. Atkinson's dedication, expertise and team player attitude allow for the success the 72nd OSS experiences daily. Dave Bergman, Lead Budget Analyst, 72nd Comptroller Squadron Mr. Bergman uses his analytical talents on a daily basis to transform the 72nd Air Base Wing's financial management program. He recently led his team of 14 in saving untold man hours of work through automation of processes. Through his updates of database tools financial management has become a streamlined process. Mr. Bergman, considered the resident expert, recently assisted a new Outstanding Travel Orders Team in developing a database for their purposes. Due to his training the team was able to reduce outstanding travel orders over 60 days from an all time high of 12.7 percent down to 7 percent. His can do attitude was demonstrated when preparing for the upcoming Execution Plan drill. He led the resource advisors through a drastic 20 percent reduction of their programs. With his help the RAs were able to give better decision support to Commanders. Mr. Bergman is a dedicated process improver. Tech. Sgt. Stephanie Williford, NCOIC 72nd Comptroller Squadron Financial Management Office Sergeant Williford is responsible for the supervision, leadership and workload management of 30 personnel, at the same time ensuring financial services to more than 25,000 deployed warfighters. Recently returned from deployment to Iraq, Sergeant Williford maintains a positive attitude while faced with the difficulty of 65 percent manning cuts. She volunteers her time with Network 5/6, 72nd ABW Holiday Party and change of command ceremony planning. Sergeant Williford is an inspiration for future Financial Management leaders.
