National Night Out is just around the corner.

Hosted by the 72nd Security Forces Squadron and Balfour Beatty, the Aug. 3 evening event will celebrate local and state law-enforcement agencies that keep Tinker safe. It is also designed to raise drug and crime-prevention awareness. The free event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the base soccer field near the Tinker Bowling Center. Demonstrations are scheduled, food will be available and music played.

"This year's National Night Out event will set a new standard for Tinker Air Force Base. The Oklahoma County Sheriff's office has pulled out all the stops to support us," said Lt. Col. Troy Roberts, 72nd SFS commander. "It is a great gesture of partnership with our local communities in the fight against crime."

Law-enforcement agencies expected to attend include the 72nd SFS, Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. First responder Tinker Fire Department is also expected to show.

Demonstrations include a K-9 appearance, motorcycle patrols, and a helicopter landing on the soccer field. Moon bounces and a sprinkler will be available for children to play in.
