Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta sets sail July 31 Published July 16, 2010 Outdoor Recreation TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The 10th annual Tinker Boat Regatta is right around the corner. The big event will begin at noon July 31 at the Gerrity Pool. Each team must have two team members -- a captain and a first mate -- to operate the boat. The teams must provide a team name and a name for their boat. In addition, five Commander Participation Point will be given to any squadron team. However, only one boat per squadron will receive the points. Each team is responsible for the cost to construct their boat. Boats must be at the Gerrity Pool no later than 11 a.m. for inspection. There is no fee to enter the race. All entry forms must be turned in by July 29. Entry forms can be dropped off at Outdoor Recreation, faxed to 734-0641 or e-mailed to kim.moses@tinker.af.mil. For more information about the boat regatta, call Kim Moses at 734-5875. All decisions of the judges are final. There are only two more deep sea fishing trips planned for this summer. The final trips to Port Aransas, Texas, are scheduled for Aug. 13-15 and Sept. 17-19. Cost is $300 and includes two nights of lodging and one day fishing. Outdoor Recreation is also offering beginning sailing classes this summer. Classes are four days long and will be held through Aug. 12. Cost is $125 per person.
