It was the clash of the unbeatens April 19 and there was much to be lost on the intramural soccer pitch. With win-loss-tie records even across the board at 7-0-1, the Medical Group and Navy teams were fighting for top-seeding in the impending season tournament.

Though the Sailors have had nothing but success in prior weeks before Monday's match, their number was clearly up, and Med Group torpedoed them for a 2-0 win.

If you removed the first five minutes of each period, the game would've been a tie. Fortunately for Med Group that's not what transpired. Jeremy Zacs struck early in both periods, his first a goal at minute three of the game to put his yellow-clad team up 1-0.

And although Navy had numerous shots on goal, solid keeper play from Med Group's Tony Salafia kept them knocking but not coming in.

In the second period it was Zacs again, at minute three this time, as he put in a left-footed, extreme angle goal in a flair of athleticism. There was plenty of time left to play, but Navy never unfurled the offensive armada they're capable of summoning. It was Med Group's game, and with it the top-seeding in championship play, which run April 26-29 with the championship game on May 3.
