The Security Forces Squadron flag football team struck early Tuesday night against Reserve White, but the game was far from over.

But in the end it was the SFS's stifling defense and poor execution on Reserve White's part that decided the game. On a barren, dusty football pitch that would look more at home in the desert, SFS claimed the game with a 13-0 win.

SFS went 80 yards on the opening drive for the touchdown that would put them up 7-0.

Quarterback Marques Mitchell heaved it in the end zone to the expectant hands of William Dameron for the touchdown. A good PAT sealed the drive.

The rest of the first half was a series of failed drives for both teams as they struggled to complete passes in the gale-force Okie winds. Each team recorded an interception but failed to convert it into points.

In the fourth quarter SFS finally broke the defensive stalemate with five minutes remaining.

Recovering the ball on downs at their own 22-yard line, they started blemishing their while-clad opponents defensive scheme.

It only took four plays for them to make it to Reserve White's 20-yard line. Then finally, on play seven, Mitchell connected with Daniel White over the middle for a reception. White hauled the pass in at the five and after bouncing off Reserve White safety Mike Templeman, spun his way into the end zone for the game-closing touchdown.

"We came out and played hard," White said, while noting that quarterback Marques Mitchell is his inspiration. "The wind slowed us down some but we still got it done."

SFS improved to 5-1 for the season with the win Tuesday.
