Unsung Hero
For six years, Linda Hammon has been treating Tinker high ranking visitors like family. The guest room attendant at the Indian Hills Inn Lodging cares for 10 suites used by civilian leaders, generals and special base guests. “I meet them as family and try to make their lives enjoyable, make their rooms like home,” she says with a smile. She volunteered to care for the suites after being here for two years, though she stills attends to other areas in the inn when she can. “I enjoy everyone who comes through. I want to make them more comfortable and will point out where to eat or how to get to the commissary and base exchange,” she said. Many returning leaders remember her and bring gifts to her and the lodging staff. Perry Hicks, Ms. Hammon’s supervisor, praises her attention to detail and the work she does for the visitors. “It’s not just what you do,” he told her, “But they like you as an individual.” (Air Force photo by Margo Wright)
