Medical Group routs 33rd CBCS Published April 2, 2010 By John Stuart Tinker Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- It wasn't a soccer clinic Tuesday night, but it was close. When the 72nd Medical Group soccer team was up 7-0 at half time, it was more than clear which way the game was going. But just to fully establish their dominance, the Med Group tacked on seven more goals to win 14-0 against an outclassed 33rd Combat Communications Squadron team March 30. "We did it as a team," were the simple words Med Group forward Jeff Hulsey offered after the game. And with a quick glance at the scoring chart, he's telling the truth. Jim Quirke claimed the first goal of the offensive blitz with his goal in the first five minutes of play. Then it was Luis Ibarra, Ahmed Kennedy, Mike McCabe, Chris Lyes, Dan Pereira, Mike Urrutia and Mario Sevile who followed up with goals of their own in the first. Despite being a team of health professionals, the medics inflicted major trauma to the 33rd CBCS's defensive scheme. Then the clinic continued in the second period. Urrutia found purchase again, as did Lyes who had a second-half hat trick, and McCabe, who booted in a pair of goals. Jeff Hulsey also found a comfortable home for the ball in the back of the net. At 14-0 the carnage finally came to an end on the Med Group's dominating showing. The clinic had ended, but there's more where that came from for the season ahead.
