Although it was a Sunday, the Nordiques were all business. And if last week's loss was a disruption of the norm, then the Nordiques didn't show any lingering defects this week.
Facing a short bench of substitutes, the Nordiques still powered their way over the Rabid Yettis 6-4 Feb. 14, and improved to 9-3 on the season.

Coming off a harrowing 7-1 loss last week, Tinker had seemingly buried the hatchet and suited up with fresh war paint this week. The Nordiques were hungry for a win, and Yetti was on the menu.

It was Tinker's Kyle Bostic who struck early in the first period with his goal at 13:15. Then Maple Leaf forward Alex Considine took the offensive torch, as he knocked the puck in from the hash several minutes later. Next it was the defense's turn to have a go, as Louie Lomonaco scratched a goal on the board, his first since early in the season.

With four minutes to play the Yettis slipped one in on Nordiques goalie Justin Paquette, but their celebration was short lived. Miguel Lopez closed out the period in style, as he picked up a one-timer from Jason Stefanski for the goal. The avalanche had started. The Yettis were on the run.

But the Yettis goalie proved a hard one to crack and Tinker changed its game plan after going into the second. Since their shots were getting stopped down low, it was time to go top shelf.

In the second, the Yettis grabbed the first goal at 9:11 while the sticks were mostly quiet on Tinker's side except for a standout goal from Bostic at the net.

The Yettis attempted a comeback in the third period but were met with dismay. They netted a goal at minute 12:00, but the Nordiques Jason Stafanski answered back shortly after with a top-shelf goal of his own.

At 10 minutes the Yettis scored their final goal. They had pulled within two but it wasn't good enough and the Nordiques claimed the day.

The Nordiques showed they're starting to gel with the new lineup of replacements, Considine said.

"We're starting to play together," Considine said. "The last game was a bit hard. We were short a couple guys but we've had some new guys come in and we're starting to figure out where everyone should be playing."

But the win Sunday was an effective tonic to erase last week's loss and featured solid play all around.

"We killed them. We had a lot of chances to score. They have a good goalie but we finally started figuring him out," Considine said.
