Nordiques scare Rabid Yettis in blowout win Published Dec. 10, 2009 By John Stuart Tinker Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- With a name like the Rabid Yettis, the Tinker Nordiques might've been hesitant to venture onto the ice with their opponents. But the Tinker players felt no fear. And they had more than enough shots to render their rabid foes harmless. It was obvious which way the quickening snowball was rolling after just one period of play in the Dec. 6 match. And contrary to their name, the Yettis couldn't hold their own on the ice as Tinker (4-1) dropped them in a 9-2 rout. In the first period it was Tinker's Jason Stefanski who drew the first Yetti blood, as he notched a goal with an assist from James Behn. Bryson Harley was up next with a goal of his own, and then Erik Rozema-Seaton and Jeremy Brennan. Miguel Lopez finished out the period with a score off the top post as Tinker capped their five unanswered goals. But in good sportsmanship, the Nordiques took their foot off the accelerator in the second period. Well, they tried anyway, and only scored three additional unanswered goals. Lopez and Stefanski found the net again as did team captain Behn, on a breakaway solo goal late in the period. Then, in the third period, Harley sunk the final goal while Nordiques goalie Justin Paquette allowed two goals for the Yettis -- his only mistakes in an otherwise flawless game in front of the net. Behn was pleased with the team's performance, especially with several players missing and coming off a decidedly inactive holiday break. "We came out fast. We got on the board in the second shift and never let up," Behn said. "We did really well coming off the holiday, and we had really good goaltending by Justin Paquette." The Nordiques will be back on the ice Dec. 13 at 8:30 p.m. at the Blazers Ice Center.
