Nordiques drop match to OU Published Nov. 19, 2009 By John Stuart Tinker Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Sooner or later the Tinker Nordiques had to end their early season honeymoon. Turns out that two-win honeymoon came icing to a halt on Sunday with the team's 5-2 loss to a speedy University of Oklahoma squad. Miguel Lopez scored the first goal of the night for Tinker, off assists from Jeremy Brennan and Mark Keown. But with a few players missing from the lineup, including the team's starting goalie and both team captains, the Tinker squad trailed 2-1 at the end of the first period. In the second period, the OU squad put another goal on the board while holding the Nordiques scoreless. The third period showed some promise for Tinker as Jeremy Brennan found the net from an assist by Lopez, but it proved too little too late as OU scored another two goals to close out the game. "It's better to get some losses early in the season, it's just going to help you build your team for later on," team captain James McCarron said. "You're going to learn. You're going to know why you lost and learn not to make those mistakes." The Nordiques will be back in action Nov. 22 at 4:45 p.m. at the Blazers Ice Center in Oklahoma City.
