Tinker soccer club falls to the Wiz as scoring drought continues Published Nov. 6, 2009 By John Stuart Tinker Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Simply put, the season hasn't turned out how the Tinker United Soccer Club members expected. With Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Wiz, the Tinker (3-3-1) players are left with a bitter taste in their mouths after starting the season 3-0. Once again offense proved a critical liability for Tinker in the Nov. 1 match against the Wiz. Tinker players were in position to capitalize on Wiz mistakes but couldn't deliver on points, said Tinker sweeper Jeremy Hinkle. "We had a lot of opportunities to score and we couldn't put one in basically," Hinkle said. "Their goalie kept popping them out right in front of us and we couldn't put one in the back of the net." Fundamentals have plagued the once fearsome Tinker squad, as well team member deployments and injuries, Hinkle said, noting that several key players were missing for Sunday's game. Tinker will play its last game of the season on at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at the South Lakes Soccer Complex.
